We are aware that some people have experienced problems trying to register for the race. A problem has been located and fixed now, so please try again! Thank you for your patience.

THE RACE

In the Piece of Cake Virtual Marathon 2020 you get the (school) summer holiday to finish the distance of a marathon whenever and wherever it is convenient for you.

You will have 42 days to finish the 42k - 1k a day. If you are a more experienced runner you can challenge yourself and complete the race in a shorter time, perhaps even a day? The rest of us will have to rely on our perseverance! Report in when you have completed the race and, if you finish within the 42 days, win a beautiful finishers medal. How many days do you need to finish a marathon? Challenge your peers, children, parents, grandparents, friends and colleagues to take on the challenge. This could be your first of many marathons. If you can do 1k a day YOU can do it!

DISTANCE

A full marathon, total distance 42.2k (26.2 miles), divided into any increments over the 42 days. (Since a marathon is 42k 200m, please run a short winner's lap of 200m on your very last day if you do 1k a day!)

WHEN

You can collect kilometers for your marathon any time from Friday 24th July to Thursday 3rd September 2020. The last day for registering for the race is Thursday 13th August 2020.

WHERE

This is a virtual race. You run, walk, skip, hop etc., whenever and wherever is convenient for you and keep track of your accomplished distances. Please always follow up-to-date government guidance on social distancing www.gov.uk/coronavirus.

HOW TO MEASURE AND REPORT DISTANCES

To help you find out the distance of an unknown route you could use a GPS tracker or a distance measuring program (such as www.gmap-pedometer.com). If you need help to keep track of your achieved distances you can print off this artwork and cross out each kilometer as you go.

While it is optional to report your sub-distances, it's very important you report once you have completed your race to the race administrator using the details given upon registration. The last day to report that you have finished the race is Saturday 5th September 2020.

LEADER BOARD

There is an option to report your accomplished sub-distances so that you and others can follow your progress and position on the leader board during the race. Please be aware that even if you do not report in your sub-distances, it's still very important that you report in after having completed the whole race in order to receive your finishers medal.

BIBS

Here you may print of a BIB to write your participant number on and use while running or to be photographed and to share on social media. Download BIB

MEDALS

Medals will be provided for everyone that finishes their marathon within the 42 days. The medals will look similar to the ones in last year's Piece of Cake 10k race and will be posted out after the race has closed. Only UK addresses can be guaranteed a medal, due to postage costs.

COST

Only £5 for children (12 and under) and £10 for adults. (While the children's fee just about covers the costs, we hope that many adults will register too, to support our charitable cause.)
